In this workshop, elements of 8 beat story structure, viewpoints, and audiovisual systems will be used to generate short collaborative performances.

12:15pm-2:00pm Workshop Digital Embodiment – Avatar Puppeteering 

In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work in social VR platforms and to learn techniques on how to embody and manipulate digital avatars on both virtual and real stages.

A selection of highlights from CultureHub and La MaMa’s Downtown Variety, an online live performance series that features short acts of dance, music, theater, new media, comedy, and A/V performance from artists around the globe followed by Long Table Discussion about digital strategies for fostering solidarity and creative resilience.

Participants work in small interdisciplinary teams to devise story-driven short-form works that combine theatre and new media to be presented live, online on the final day.

8:00pm-9:00pm International Screenings REPRISE & LIVE DISCUSSION

A reprise of the highlights from CultureHub and La MaMa’s Downtown Variety for the local live audience, followed by a live discussion about digital strategies for fostering solidarity and creative resilience with present artists. 

Day 2 | JULY 2

10:00am-11:30am Workshop Alt-Frameworks: Elements of Story, Body, and Media II

In this workshop, participants will work with custom designed software patches, projection, and various sensors to develop interactive media landscapes for their collaborative performances.

11:45am-12:45pm Workshop Processing Live Movement and Video with Hydra

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the open-source browser-based tool Hydra and will use physical movement and live video feeds to manipulate and create interactive visual effects.

A series of short live performances in person from Belgrade and telematically by connecting to the CultureHub studio in New York followed by an International Long Table Discussion on mediated and technologically informed performance in the pandemic era. Performers include Olivia Jack, John King, Krzysztof Garbaczewski, Shauna Davis, Zeljko Maksimovic, Marija Kovacina in Belgrade, and Tiri Kananuruk in New York.
