The Glass Menagerie<\/em> was a part of the project Tennessee Williams centennial celebration<\/em>. It premiered on December 20, 2011 at Dom omladine Belgrade and had it\u2019s 10th rerun on February 2, 2013 in Amerikana Hall at Dom omladine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Glass Menagerie<\/em> is the first successful play of Tennesee Williams. This is a love, family, psychological, poetic, social drama and much more. It speaks about lonely people who are wishing to fulfill their life purose and survive. Marriage, a job, travel, money, past – these are all illusions that keep them alive but in the same time push them further from life – further from the connection with another.
Williams says that he wants to see the thruth in theatre, and not jus a photographic copy of reality. This performance is searching for the thruth, which is always different, alive and impossible to catch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project Tennessee Williams Centennial Celebration<\/em> has been realized with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America in Belgrade and in cooperation with American Corners across Serbia (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Ni\u0161, Vranje, Subotica, Novi Pazar), Museum of Theatre Art of Serbia, Library of the City of Belgrade, Dom omladine Belgrade, Culture Centre of Ni\u0161 and Cultural Centre of Novi Sad. The project included an exhibition of photographs of different stagings of Williams\u2019 plays in Serbia from 1952 \u2013 2011, a debate on Williams\u2019 creative work, film showings and a theatre performance The Glass Menagerie<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
