Year 2018 marked a 100–<\/sup>year of the birth of Ingmar Bergman, one of the most important film directors and authors of all time. Within the project Film, Music and in-between<\/em>, a stage reading of the adaptation of Bergman\u2019s novel The Best Intentions<\/em> was performed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The novel speaks about Bergman\u2019s formative years, his parents and their marriage \u2013 \u201ctheir hopes, weaknesses and best intentions\u201d, and deals with questions of love, compromise and disappointment. Bergman is here trying to fathom the deepest truth about a marriage and to reconstruct the development of a romantic relationship between his parents. Bergman\u2019s story is realistic; it speaks of love honestly, bravely and brutally \u2013 of its weakness, but also its beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Video art in this performance included segments from the films of Ingmar Bergman, as well as authorial ones, both mixed live. Music used in the performance was composed by Matti Bye, Swedish composer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The novel was published in Serbia by Geopoetika (translated by Spasa Ratkovi\u0107), as part of Bergman\u2019s autobiographical trilogy. Project was supported by the Swedish Embassy in Belgrade and Ministry of Culture of Republic of Serbia, with support of the Yugoslav Film Archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
